I'm at home with a newborn waiting out the scary flu season while you're all at church. Since I'm not getting my spiritual fill with you, I have taken to the internet and lds.org to create my own Sabbath "feast", and I found this quote that I can't stop reading. Thought I'd share:
"God loves us, so He makes us the gift of suffering. Through suffering, we release our hold on the toys of this world, and know our true good lies in another world. We're like blocks of stone, out of which the sculptor carves the forms of men. The blows of his chisel, which hurt us so much, are what make us perfect. The suffering in this world is not the failure of God's love for us; it is that love in action. For believe me, this world that seems to us so substantial is no more than the shadlowlands. Real life has not begun yet." ("Shadowlands," p. 1)

Hey, Lara, I just thought I'd "drop by" the WS blog. I like this exerpt from Shadowlands. Sometimes I feel like I'll never let go of my toys of this world (sewing (time alone), TV, judging, eating, sleeping, wanting, the list goes on and on!). I like what it says, "Real life has not begun yet." So true...and encouraging!
